We’re back with another very interesting interview made by our virtual reporter. In this occasion dj Eko has spent some of his time to answer to the following questions. Thanks a lot to Eko for beeing so kind to us and we wish him the best. ¡¡Keep rocking, sensei Eko!!

ttb: Tell us something about you…who is Eko?
Eko: Eko is a turntablist ninja passionate about scratch, and anti-mix.

ttb: For how many years have you been djing?
Eko: I’ve been scratching for 8 years.

ttb: Why did you started scratching? did you see something special in it?
Eko: I’ve been impressed by an ITF video when I was young, and I immediately knew I wanted to do that.

ttb: Which equipment did you use when you were starting? What do you own now?
Eko: When I started I had a record player that my father owned and a desk(mixer) with a very shitty cut…that was a BST deck.

ttb: Do you spend a lot of time in front of the decks or the qfo?
Eko: I’m currently in a championship period, then I’m using a normal configuration with two MK2 turntables and a Rane TTM 56. I’m using the QFO to chill out, or on stage as well.

ttb: We’ve seen that you are a brilliant skratcher, do you also juggle? planning to do juggling routines?
Eko: I won the DMC French cup 2004 category beat-juggling, then I did juggle routines and I will keep doing some.

ttb: How have you developed your skratching technique? are you self-taught?
Eko: I was autodidact especially at the beginning, and I think that permitted me to develop my own style. Then I chose to share my passion with other turntablists, because their vision was different from mine, and I did learn a lot from them.

ttb: wich are your preferred skratching techniques?
Eko: The 3 click flare, and the transform.

ttb: Wich are your favourite battle music composers?
Eko: Kodh, Q-Bert, Klever and Craze.

ttb: We’ve seen your graffitis and drawings and also heard your beats, and I have to say they’re quite good. Why are you interested also in these arts?
Eko: I started with the graffiti, and I have a keen interest in the Hip Hop culture first and foremost.

ttb: Why do you wear that headband? what does it mean?
Eko: This headband comes from a manga named Naruto and represents the village of sound. I wear it because I like to disguise.

ttb: Wich are your music influences?
Eko: Drum n bass and rap.

ttb: What is your favourite track at this moment?
Eko: Lil Jon’s Grand Final.

ttb: Any projects in mind for the near future? more battling?
Eko: I’m now completing my preparation for the coming battles. Then I will focus on tracks for the 6ème Sens Produktion’s LP –my rap crew, and I might prepare a new album if I sell some more ‘‘I’m back ! Sucker !’’. I’m also thinking about a breakbeat

ttb: What do you think about Digital Vinyl Systems? Will they help to turntablism growth as an art?
Eko: I’ll be at 100% in favor of the digital vinyl systems when they will follow correctly my scratches ! Anyway, they help me pretty well to make my routines.

ttb: Do you want to say something for the turntablists out there?
Eko: I would like to tell them that the turntablism is not a musical sub-gender, and it deserves to develop even more in order to satisfy an audience who’s becoming larger and larger. The most important is to do it with passion to please the audience.
